Based on his education, experience, and career background, Mr. Aiken believes he is a more representative candidate than any of those seeking this office.  Mr. Aiken has lived in the 6th District since 1967 and graduated from high school and received his BS degree in Geology in a college in the 6th District.  Mr. Aiken also worked as a farm laborer in the area farms and made a 30 year career as a Public Works Lead Inspector for the City of Spokane, Engineering Department that includes the 6th District in his work area for the city.  Mr. Aiken had small businesses and incorporated his mining & processing companies in the 6th District.  He feels that he best represents the citizens of the 6th District by participating in and being a long term resident of the District that once was the 9th District and not included the north and south part of the City of Spokane, which has nothing in common with the rural area in the West Plains area of Spokane County.  The West Plains area have little voice in government and is overpowered by the north and south portion of the City of Spokane that are denser in population, hence have more voters to cast what they feel are important to their needs and are uncaring to the West Plains problems.  Mr. Aiken is well aware of the problems in the north and south part of the City of Spokane and have many friends who resides and/or have businesses there.  They have voiced their concerns to him many times in the past.  Much of the north and south area did not exist 30-40 years ago and it was Mr. Aiken, who inspected all the public and private development that were done during that time until today when they were just fields and timber land.
